History
The town of Burke was developed around a railway station constructed in the 1840s. It was named "Burke's Station" after Silas Burke, a farmer and merchant who had built the first of many Burke homes in the area, and this title was used to refer to the entire village for the next several decades. In 1903, the town's name was shortened to Burke. Real estate in Burke was in high demand during this period due to the expanding industry of the town.
