Clifton is a small town in northern Virginia approximately 27 miles from Washington, D.C. Families can ask a Clifton real estate agent to help them find homes for sale in Clifton within walking distance of schools. Large Clifton homes with seven bedrooms are available. Clifton was originally a small railroad station named Devereux Station. Union soldiers guarded the station during the Civil War. Harrison Otis purchased Devereux Station after the war. He opened a hotel, and the town became a destination for wealthy residents of Washington. The town's name was changed to Clifton Station in 1868, and it later became known as Clifton. Visitors were attracted to the small town's atmosphere, hot springs and saloons. Clifton was the first town in Fairfax County to have power. Parks and Recreation

Clifton Town Park is a large city-owned park available for public use when the sun rises until it sets.
Clifton Town Park has a playground, a baseball field and a basketball court, as well as swings, slides and a wooden train.
Attractions and Activities

A walking tour through downtown Clifton will take people past several historic buildings. The Clifton Hotel was built in 1869, and the Payne House was built in 1884. Historic downtown Clifton also has restaurants and specialty shops.
